The visit of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson

Early afternoon 11/11/2017, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson landed Ha Noi Capital from  2017 APEC CEO Summit in Da Nang. 16h45’ Secretary of State visited Hoa Lo Prison Historical Relic, as “Ha Noi - Hilton” during The Viet Nam War.
On the visit of 11/11, Deputy Chief of Mission in Vietnam Caryn McClelland with delegation. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and delegates interested in visiting Ha Noi’s places, where related  to US pilots in The Viet Nam War, especially related to Senator John McCain as Hoa Lo Prison Historical Relic, Truc Bach lake - where John McCain parachuted after his aircraft was shot down on October 26th, 1967.

Hoa Lo Prison in the period from 1964 - 1973 as a camp for US pilots, who were captured in mission to attack the North Viet Nam. Among those US pilots in Ha Noi - Hilton, there was John McCain, Chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee; Douglas Peterson, the first United States Ambassador to Vietnam. 
In Hoa Lo Prison Historical Relic, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also visited the exhibit in the era of French colonialist, the time when Vietnamese political prisoners were detained and suffered. With determined wills and the leading of Party, revolutionaries successfully overcame countless difficulties and pains in prison, many of them became leaders of the Party and State.

As itinerary in Ha Noi, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also visits US embassy, Tran Quoc Pagoda and in the evening, Secretary of State with President Donald Trump attend a State Dinner with Viet Nam President Tran Dai Quang.
